There's not a lot of options nearby to pass some time before a show at the DCPA. Unfortunately, this means that you'll often find yourself in a long line with other fellow theater goers right before a show and hope that they'll get to you in time as they work their way at serving everyone their order.

Large, spacious place... Good to kill time and people watch... Coffee could be better...

We love this place. We are here once a week for most of the year. The service is always super nice, even when it's hectic. The scones are delicious with a SPICY chai latte. All the pastries are delicious!!

One of the best coffee place if you are tired of Starbucks papercup. You will get good downtown view with Cup of coffee with variety in menu. Pleasent environment.

Great coffee, great food, and great view of the city. Prices aren't bad for a downtown coffee shop and the product is always good. Personally I really like their Chia and scones. You also get wine and beer here, but I haven't tried it yet.

The only downsides are that the food here is expensive and the long lines can make it an awkward space to navigate. But overall, the soups and pastries are rich and delicious. The salads are full of unique, flavorful choices. And the coffee is standard and competent. It helps that this is near art and a cute neighborhood to walk around. This is a great cafe for some casual food and company. But it could also please those with sophisticated tastes.

A fav location for tasty Cafe food. You will not be disappointed in the menu and service. I've had nothing but enjoyable experiences here and plan to keep visiting. This place has a cool atmosphere.

Tasty drinks and desserts. Perfect right before you see a show

I walk past this spot, on the way to work, every morning. The storefront is a nice, chill splash of culture with art and posters supporting local and indie productions. All cool in my book but, what really is wonderful is that the baristas will wave back at me, every day, as I walk by -- whether I can stop by or not. Oh, and the espresso is pretty dang good, as well ;)

I was at a show Tuesday and the horror of seeing a dark, empty, closed space where Backstage Coffee used to be. What the?? This place was always packed! I am so sad that this place is gone!! Why did the city of Denver kick them out? My preshow ritual will never be as fun again, thx Denver.

Backstage has plenty of seating, power plugs, free WiFi with a purchase, and a great location downtown. It's always quiet and not too crowded. The area by the bar can be, but there's plenty of seating and tables on the other side of the building. Great coffee and they offer a variety of pastries. And gluten-free (until they run out).

The two young kids there were just sweet as hell. I ordered the same coffee as the cashier and she was like I'm going to make this coffee for you because this is exactly what I get. Great place to grab a coffee before going to see a show at the DCPA. Very large location with lots of seating. Food is really good too. Decently priced for downtown Denver.

Pretty good coffee for a reasonable price! Add in the nice cozy atmosphere and a pretty view of the ground level of Denver and you get a nice place to stop by for a quick break. Only downside is no wifi, therefore if you're looking to get any work done this may not be the place.

This is a large coffee shop, great for hanging out or working remotely. You can get wifi for up to 8 hours with a single purchase, plus my vanilla chai latte was quite tasty. There are also multiple bathrooms for customers.

Great place friendly people food is very good. Enjoyed the bagles and tea. that was recommended. Good choice. Will visit again next time were are around. Prices are very good.

This is a good place for a quick coffee or bite before a show at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts. Stick to the sandwiches, anything with a croissant, and pastries (the Napoleons are fantastic!). The coffee is good and a full range of coffee drinks are available as are wine and beer.

Walked in and then walked out. Only one employee and no sandwiches, just scones. Pictures are deceiving.

Good coffee and is somewhat laptop friendly with plenty of tables to sit at. I also like the art displayed on the wall. However, I wish the decor was touched up a bit as it looked like they were under construction when I visited.

Everything about this place is charming. I go to uni across the street at MSU Denver and I love coming here for a good pick-me-up with great coffee and great prices. It’s a great place to focus and get things done, it’s also a great place to relax. The staff is always friendly and helpful.Love, love, love this place!Give it a try :)

I ordered the backstage latte, and it was delicious - not too sweet. Hubs ordered a mocha, and he enjoyed his as well, but it was quite a bit sweeter than mine.
